Supported Independent Living (SIL) in Melbourne and Victoria

Under the NDIS provider registration reforms commencing 1 July 2026, providers delivering Supported Independent Living are required to be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Vitality Support Care is already registered (ID 4050148821) — if your current SIL provider isn't, we can transition you safely and, where possible, bring your existing support workers with you.

Vitality Support Care provides Supported Independent Living in shared and individual homes across Melbourne's south-east, Ballarat and Warragul. Homes are accessible mainstream properties — SDA funding is not required. Support ratios from 1:3 to 1:1, including 24/7 and high-intensity care. Current vacancies listed at /our-homes/.

What SIL is

Help with daily life, in a home that's genuinely yours

Supported Independent Living funds the paid support you receive at home — help with personal care, cooking, medication, household routines and building everyday skills — usually in a shared home with housemates you choose to live with. It's funded from the Core budget of your NDIS plan and works alongside your rent arrangements, which stay separate. SIL is about doing things with you until you can do more of them yourself, not doing everything for you.

Why Vitality

Why participants choose our SIL homes

No SDA required

Our homes are accessible mainstream properties in ordinary streets. If your plan includes SIL funding, you're eligible — no SDA determination needed.

Your workers can come with you

Moving providers usually means losing the people who know you. Where possible, we employ your existing support workers so the faces stay the same while the provider behind them improves.

Support that matches your ratio

From a few shared hours a day (1:3) to around-the-clock 1:1, including nurses for high-intensity needs like enteral feeding, catheter care and medication management.

Culturally safe households

Halal kitchens, gender-matched staff, and workers who speak Dari, Pashto, Hazaragi, Arabic, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

Housemate matching that's taken seriously

Compatibility interviews and trial stays before anyone commits — because a home only works if the people in it do.

Questions

SIL questions, answered

Do I need SDA funding for your SIL homes?

No. Our properties are accessible mainstream homes; SIL funding alone is sufficient.

Can I keep my current support workers?

In most cases yes — we offer to onboard existing workers during transition so your continuity of care is protected.

What support ratios do you offer?

1:3, 1:2 and 1:1, including 24/7 rosters and high-intensity clinical supports delivered under nursing oversight.

How is rent handled?

Rent and board are separate from SIL funding and are agreed transparently before move-in.

Can I visit before deciding?

Always. We arrange tours and housemate meet-and-greets, and where appropriate a short trial stay using STA funding.

A room is only a vacancy until the right person moves in.
